For many of us, our fur babies are our special family members that more than deserve a place by our side—especially on our big day. Brides seem to be taking note, too, as we see more and more furry companions looking their best when their parents say, “I do.” As animal lovers, ourselves, and inspired by the dapper and oh-so-pretty pooches at the center of our own lives, we felt these furry companions deserved a little more love and time in the spotlight.
And as for all the less fortunate dogs out there in need of the same kind of love? What better way to give back than through WeddingDay Bridal Tour, our premier bridal show and planning essential for any brides and grooms-to-be across northern Indiana and southwest Michigan.
We are excited to announce that WeddingDay has gladly partnered with Heartland Small Animal Rescue, Inc., Midwest Assistance Dogs, Inc., PetsConnect! Inc., Pet Refuge and South Bend Animal Care and Control to bring some awareness to these great local organizations that work hard everyday to find good homes for these well-deserving animals. We encourage you to check in with our Facebook Page over the next few weeks to vote for your favorite pooch! The result? A prize package for the winning organization!
What’s even more exciting...come to WeddingDay Bridal Tour on Sunday, October 22 (purchase tickets here!) for your chance to see some of these adorable dogs strut their stuff down the runway next to some equally adorable brides during our Paris House of Bridal fashion show!
Now, time to shine a little light on some of these great pups and organizations!
Ability, Midwest Assistance Dogs, Inc.
Meet this gorgeous and majestic Great Dane, Ability. She works tirelessly to give great companionship, loyalty and love to her disabled owner. In addition to many other things, she helps him pick things up and navigate his daily tasks with greater ease, all while enjoying her days on a local farm. She came from Midwest Assistance Dogs, Inc., an organization that provides mobility assistance, hearing, seizure alert, emotional support, therapy, and companion dogs throughout the Midwest and beyond.
Joey, Pet Refuge
How can you not adore this fluffy and sweet St. Bernard, Joey? He is as mild-mannered as he is handsome and recently joined a loving family. Thanks to Pet Refuge, a not-for-profit “no-kill” animal shelter run by volunteers for the placement of unwanted and abandoned pets, he found his forever dream home and family!
Mink, South Bend Animal Care and Control
Meet Mink. He just found a caring family to return all his unconditional love and companionship! In addition to listening well, this Pit Bull sure has a zest for life. We are thrilled he got his second chance with the help of South Bend Animal Care and Control, an open admission municipal animal control shelter and animal based community center.
Brittany Rose, PetsConnect! Inc.
This sweet Brittany Spaniel, Brittany-Rose, is as kind as she is petite. Those curious puppy eyes say it all as she can’t wait to find a loving home, family and warm lap to curl up on. PetsConnect! Inc., located in South Bend, is the not-for-profit, volunteer-led, community-based organization giving her the care she deserves. Its goal is to create a “No More Homeless Pet Community” by working closely with shelters and placing animals into loving, forever homes.
Chunky, Heartland Small Animal Rescue, Inc.
Last but not least, meet this adorable Pit Bull, Chunky. If you’re like us, you’ll get lost in his sweet face and big, brown eyes. He owes his new life to Heartland Small Animal Rescue, Inc., a non-profit rescue based in South Bend, Indiana that has experienced significant growth as it continues its mission of rescuing pets. After his recent adoption, Chunky promises to return all the dog cookies, ball tosses and hugs he can get with undivided loyalty and love.
